For the first time ever, an Australian house of parliament has passed a Bill to ban live sheep exports. The legislation passed the Senate on Monday co-sponsored by Senators Derryn Hinch, Tim Storer from the Centre Alliance, and The Greens. However, the Government then refused to debate it or allow a vote in the lower house where it now languishes.

Politicians from a variety of parties have been calling on Prime Minister Scott Morrison to allow his MPs to have a conscience, or 'free', vote. Senators Tim Storer from the Centre Alliance, Mehreen Faruqi from The Greens, and Anthony Chisholm from the Australia Labor Party all asked for the Liberal Party MPs to be given a conscience vote. Then this historic legislation would have a strong chance of passing and we could end this horrendous cruelty to sheep for good.
