If you’re one of the one million people who have ‘liked’ us on Facebook, HIGH 5! Because of you, animals are now the single biggest cause in Australian social media!
They say that animal protection is set to be the next big social justice movement of our time … Well, if social media is any indication, it already is.
Today Animals Australia has become the first charity in Australia to reach one million ‘likes’ on Facebook. And to celebrate, we are sharing the joy … literally 🙂
One million may sound big, but in reality it’s just a number. Any social media whiz will tell you that the real measure of a Facebook page is not ‘likes’, but ‘reach’ (and engagement). That is — with the help of our amazing Facebook followers who share Animals Australia content every day — how many people do we actually reach on behalf of animals? On average, anywhere between 10 to 20 million people per week (with some exceptions).
For the record, we’ve never ‘bought’ likes, either.
This extraordinary reach is testament to the growing interest in animal protection and public opposition to the cruel industries we expose. What sets our community apart is that it’s active — not passive. We are united by kindness. And every Animals Australia supporter knows that if we raise the topic of animal abuse, it’s because there’s something everyone can do about it.
Actually, we’ve covered so much ground that in case you missed them, we’ve pulled together five Animals Australia Facebook posts that generated some of the biggest responses of all time:
1) We made everyone go ga-ga for cows.
2) We stood up for the little guys.
3) We published what the meat industry never would.
4) We made the best chicken salad. Ever.
5) And we restored everyone’s faith in humanity.
So finally — here’s cheers to the cherished Animals Australia Facebook community. Thank you for putting animals on the social media map. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for being a force for kindness. Here’s to two million!
