In a dark, crowded shed, at the end of a dusty road, a baby chick wakes up. She is just two weeks old – with yellow fluffy feathers, a sensitive pale orange beak, and tiny sparkling eyes that take a moment to adjust to the low light. Her feet scratch on the filthy ground as she pushes through the masses of other chickens – thousands, just like her – to get to the feeding station.
In just a few short weeks, she will be killed to fulfil consumer demand for ‘cheap chicken’.
Her suffering may be hidden – but it is very real.
While we enjoy Christmas with family and friends, animals are trapped in factory farms across Australia. They will live and die in the shadows, because the meat and egg industries rely on caring people like you not knowing how animals are treated.
This festive season, animals need your help.
