Our Reconciliation Action Plan.

We recognise the significance of our role in acknowledging the past, understanding the present, and moving toward a future where equity, respect, and justice prevail.

Animals Australia believes in a world where kindness, compassion, and respect are shown to all living beings. Our journey towards that world includes contributing to an equitable, just future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise the significance of our role in acknowledging the past, understanding the present, and moving toward a future where equity, respect, and justice prevail.

We recognise the enduring resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the face of injustices and inequities, both historical and those that persist today. We value their perspectives, knowledge systems, and values, which offer vital insights for responsible stewardship of the lands for people and animals.

As advocates for animals, we understand the importance of standing alongside those without fair representation, and of putting our values into meaningful action.

Let us champion justice for animals, people, and the planet as we work toward a world where kindness, compassion, and respect know no boundaries.

Animals Australia's RAP Artwork by indigenous artist K'Tahni Pridham
Animals Australia's RAP artwork by artist K'Tahni Pridham represents our six foundational values. These values are visualised as pools of inspiration for our dedication and work. At the core of each of these values are charcoal-coloured icons, symbolising the four pillars of the Reflect RAP – Respect, Relationships, Opportunities, Governance.

Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is the critical first step on our journey of reflection, learning, and transformation. We strive to embed cultural understanding and respect into the fabric of our organisation, through listening and sharing to develop meaningful relationships and partnerships.

Our Reflect RAP was endorsed and launched in February 2024, and will guide us through the next twelve months of action before we arrive at the next stage of our journey, Innovate.

It enables us to deepen our understanding of our influence and the contributions we can make to the progression of Australia’s reconciliation journey.

It is our privilege to bring you with us on this journey, towards the kinder, more compassionate and equitable future – for all – that we envision.

We draw inspiration from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples whose profound connection to the land and its inhabitants predates all others. It is an honour to endorse this plan and we look forward to embarking on Animals Australia’s journey towards making a valuable contribution to reconciliation in Australia.
