Countless protected native swans and cygnets have been shot in a government-sanctioned mass killing to make way for trout fishing season — and many more are still at risk of being killed.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment in Tasmania has issued a permit to kill hundreds of black swans simply because their habitat is being used for recreational trout fishing by a commercial company. It’s unclear how many have already been killed, but with shooting imminent in the coming days and weeks, these swans urgently need your help.
Please join us in calling on the Minister for Primary Industries and Water, Jo Palmer, to intervene immediately and stop this senseless slaughter of protected native wildlife.
