UPDATE: Those who live in the EU can take action for kangaroos by signing the European Parliament petition to ban EU imports of kangaroo products. The petition urgently needs more signatures to move to the next stage of the EU Ban process. If you are in the EU, please sign today and share this petition with those in your network who also wish to help kangaroos and joeys.

HELP KANGAROOS NOW

The petition calling for an import ban on kangaroo products to the European Union has been discussed by the European Parliament’s Committee on Petitions. Unfortunately, the Committee decided not to progress the petition further through the EU political system.

Future campaign strategies to realise an EU import ban on kangaroo products are currently being developed.

We thank everyone who wrote to the Committee for their support for the millions of kangaroos that are killed by the Australian kangaroo industry every year.

Other ways you can help

If you want to help Australia’s precious kangaroos, please consider the following options:

  • Pledge to never buy kangaroo meat or products. There is no ethical or safe way to obtain kangaroo meat or skin – even sporting great, David Beckham, refuses to wear soccer boots made from kangaroo leather, solely because of the cruelty of the hunt. Thousands of compassionate people across the globe are taking a stand for kangaroos and joeys by pledging to never support the commercial kangaroo industry.
  • Don’t buy kangaroo ‘leather’. There are many synthetic, cruelty-free alternatives to leather available.
  • Share information on the cruel kangaroo hunt with your friends and family so they can become informed.
  • Write a letter to the editor of your local paper. Australians, while outraged over the seal hunts abroad, are largely unaware of what is happening to these precious native animals in our own backyard – please help spread the word so that together, consumers can shape a kinder future for kangaroos and joeys!
